Shakespeare and the Polish "big plate"
In the program of the December concert, the New Music Orchestra will perform a sound impression of Sonnet LXVI In death like a dream I wish to depart, tired of all this by William Shakespeare. In this incredibly moving work, the poet deals with the greatest injustices in the world: social, economic and moral. The artistic performance of the piece composed by Artur Zagajewski will be accompanied by video projections by Grzegorz Marta showing the reality of Polish housing estates made of large panels.
Rock and techno music
In the second part of the concert, the audience will meet one of the most interesting works created at the beginning of the 21st century - the video opera Index of Metals. Its author, the Italian composer Fausto Romitelli, fascinated by rock and electronic sounds, possessing great talent strengthened by knowledge of classical and modern composition and the latest information technologies related to sound and image, created extraordinary works, fascinating both musicologists and people who have not had much contact with contemporary music. For many recipients, one of the most important values of Index of Metals is the fact that the composer reached for the so-called "serious music" layers of mass culture, especially elements of rock and techno music, and processing them in an innovative and very interesting artistic way. The perfect complement to this industrial sound will be video projections by the outstanding Italian creator Paulo Pachini displayed on as many as three screens, closely synchronized with the sound action.
The electronic-acoustic layer of the opera is presented in a surround system, which, combined with the visual material, creates an incredible experience of being in the very center of sound and taking an extraordinary journey through various states of space, time and spirit.
The soprano part of the piece will be performed by the outstanding Polish composer and singer Agata Zubel, who dedicates a unique place to the latest music in her repertoire.
Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund under the "Music" program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.

The projects are supported under the National Plan for Recovery and Increased Resilience. Component: Resilience and competitiveness of the economy; GRANTS 2024.
